Remembering my delightful visits to Tacos and Tattoos’ original Kendall location back in 2015, especially for their Taco Tuesdays, I was thrilled to rediscover them in a new spot, still conveniently close and still serving up those uniquely delicious tacos and fusion fare. It was time for a nostalgic revisit, and I was eager to see if the magic remained.
We started with the Chicharrón (Fried Pork Skin). These were wonderfully crunchy, perfectly fried, and seasoned with just the right amount of spice, making for an irresistible appetizer.
Next up were the Tostones Rellenos (Shrimp). This dish was a flavor explosion, featuring a vibrant pico de gallo, tangy pickled cabbage, and a creamy garlic aïoli. The combination of textures and tastes was truly exciting and a testament to their fusion approach.
For the main event, the tacos, we sampled the Pork Belly Tacos. The fried pork belly was rich and flavorful, beautifully complemented by the sweetness of charred pineapple, the zing of garlic aïoli, fresh cilantro, and salty queso fresco. Each bite was a perfect balance of textures and tastes.
We also tried the Shrimp Tacos and Fish Tacos. The Shrimp Taco, topped with fresh pico de gallo and crisp pickled cabbage, was a standout favorite. The freshness of the shrimp and the bright toppings made it incredibly satisfying.
On the side, we enjoyed the Elote (Grilled Corn – Mexican Style). This was fresh, grilled corn taken to another level with Cajun spices, cotija cheese, and crema Mexicana. It was a flavorful and unique twist on a classic Mexican street food.
For dessert, we couldn’t resist the Deep Fried Oreos with Vanilla Ice Cream. While perhaps an unconventional choice, it was a fun and indulgent treat. Mister B. and my companions thoroughly enjoyed this playful dessert.
Tacos & Tattoos is a family-owned gem with three locations across Miami – Kendall, Little Havana, and Florida City. They pride themselves on a diverse menu that blends Caribbean, Mexican, and American flavors, alongside an extensive craft beer selection. The service was warm and welcoming, further enhancing the inviting atmosphere. Our visit to the Kendall location confirmed that Tacos & Tattoos remains a fantastic spot for flavorful and exciting fusion food. We are already planning our return to explore more of their delicious offerings.
