New Beginnings Tattoo Removal: Offering Hope and Healing

The New Beginnings Tattoo Removal Program is a national initiative dedicated to providing survivors of radiation treatment and sex trafficking with free tattoo removal services. Sponsored by the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS), this philanthropic campaign connects individuals with volunteer ASLMS member physicians who are committed to helping them achieve a fresh start.

ASLMS physician members are volunteering their expertise to remove radiation markings and branding tattoos at no cost to survivors. This compassionate service aims to empower individuals as they embark on new chapters in their lives. It’s important to note that while the ASLMS New Beginnings Tattoo Removal provider directories primarily feature board-certified physicians, the program extends to include non-physician medical professionals working within a participating physician’s practice, provided the physician is listed in the directory and ensures all procedures comply with local regulations and licensing. *

*ASLMS emphasizes that participating physicians are responsible for understanding and adhering to local laws and ensuring that all medical professionals involved are appropriately licensed to perform the procedures.

ASLMS is proud to collaborate with CeraVe in a new partnership designed to broaden the reach and support of the New Beginnings program. The CeraVe Fresh Start Scholarship Fund, a result of this collaboration, will offer financial assistance to providers. This funding will help offset the operational costs associated with delivering pro bono tattoo removal services to patients who are survivors of trafficking, further expanding access to this life-changing program.

Radiation Mark Removal for Cancer Survivors

For cancer patients seeking removal of radiation marks, the New Beginnings program offers a straightforward path to access services. Interested individuals can simply reach out to a participating physician in their vicinity to arrange a consultation. To facilitate this process, we have developed an easy-to-use physician locator service.

To participate in the Radiation Mark Removal program, patients are required to furnish the physician with an official approval letter from their oncologist or radiologist confirming the suitability of radiation mark (tattoo) removal.

This complimentary service is available to all cancer survivors and is not limited to specific cancer types such as breast cancer or lymphoma. The program is accessible throughout the year, providing continuous support for those in need.

Branding Tattoo Removal for Survivors of Sex Trafficking

The New Beginnings program extends its pro bono services to survivors of sex trafficking who have branding tattoos. Eligibility for this service requires patients to be actively engaged in, or have completed, a rehabilitation program or a recovery support group affiliated with the National Trafficking Sheltered Alliance.

Patients seeking branding tattoo removal must provide documentation from their case manager verifying their status as sex trafficking survivors and confirming they are at a stable and appropriate stage in their recovery to undergo tattoo removal.
