Infinity Tattoo with Names: A Mother’s Meaningful Ink

The journey to getting a tattoo can be a deeply personal one, often filled with anticipation and thoughtful consideration. For me, the idea of an infinity tattoo incorporating my children’s names was a concept that evolved over eight years. It started as a simple idea and transformed into a meaningful piece of body art that tells a story of motherhood and enduring love.

Initially inspired by the concept of “Just Breathe,” I envisioned a design that symbolized eternity and the unbreakable bond with my children. Over time, this vision took shape through numerous sketches and revisions. I explored portfolios of talented tattoo artists, seeking the perfect hand to bring my idea to life. The design process was a journey in itself, filled with subtle tweaks and variations on the infinity symbol and the way to integrate my children’s names.

For a while, I considered letting a professional artist finalize the design. As a perfectionist, I doubted my own ability to create something I would be completely satisfied with. I imagined constantly finding flaws and wanting to make changes. However, in a moment of clarity, it struck me: the perfect touch was my own handwriting. What could be more personal and representative of my unique connection with my children than using my own script to write their names within the infinity symbol?

This realization was a turning point. I wrote out both of my children’s names on paper, scanned them into my computer, and used Photoshop to integrate them into my design. The result was exactly what I had envisioned – a truly personalized infinity tattoo.

Seeing their names in my own handwriting embedded within the infinity symbol solidified the design’s perfection. Excited and ready to finally make it permanent, I booked an appointment with a highly recommended tattoo artist named Ernie. The experience was smooth and relatively quick, and Ernie executed the design flawlessly. The final tattoo was exactly as I had imagined, and I was overjoyed with the result. The healing process has been going well, and I admire my tattoo daily as a constant reminder of my love for my children.

Now, I know that tattoos aren’t for everyone, and they often spark questions and even criticism. “Why would you get a tattoo?” is a question I anticipate. To answer honestly, my tattoo is a deeply personal statement, not a public declaration. My journey to motherhood, and life in general, has been transformative. As a teenager, I navigated a challenging path, causing considerable worry for my parents. However, meeting my husband became a turning point. He brought happiness, love, and direction into my life. Then, at 17, a positive pregnancy test changed everything again.

The arrival of our first son, Jake, shortly after my high school graduation, marked the beginning of a new chapter. Balancing motherhood and college was demanding, but Jake was my constant companion. He was there through late-night study sessions and even accompanied me to exam reviews, entertained by juice boxes and Goldfish crackers provided by a kind professor. Instead of bedtime stories, I read marketing and physics textbooks to him. He was my little helper during final projects, even “walking the catwalk” for my senior fashion line. Jake was there to celebrate with me when I earned my Bachelor’s degree in four years.

Years later, we decided to expand our family. The joy of expecting our daughter, Emma Grace, was initially overshadowed by a diagnosis of Hyperemesis Gravidarum. This pregnancy presented a different set of challenges, both emotionally and physically. Despite the difficulties, the bond with Emma Grace grew stronger than words can express. The past year, spent at home with her, has been a cherished time, allowing me to experience motherhood in a way I couldn’t with Jake due to my studies.

My journey with Jake and Emma Grace has been filled with both incredible joy and significant challenges. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to be their mother and thank God daily for these two amazing children. Every hug, every kiss, and every milestone is treasured. Of course, motherhood isn’t always easy; some days are harder than others. I believe that we are given challenges to make us stronger and better. Everything I do, I do for my family, for my children. My hope is to raise them to be the best versions of themselves.

This infinity tattoo with their names is a celebration of my children and our shared journey. It represents the unique bond we have and everything we have overcome together. On difficult days, it serves as a visual reminder of why I persevere. It’s a personal anchor, reminding me of how far I’ve come and how incredibly lucky I am to be a mom. It’s a symbol of my love, strength, and the everlasting connection with my children.
