How long have you been working as a tattoo artist, and what sparked your passion for tattoos?
2020 marked my seventh year in the tattoo industry. My journey began with formal tattoo studies in Hong Kong, after which I broadened my horizons by working as a guest artist in Korea and Taiwan. These experiences were invaluable in refining my techniques and expanding my artistic vision. Now, I have the privilege of tattooing clients from across the globe who appreciate and seek out my specific style of work.

Could you describe your signature tattoo style and the kind of tattoos you create? How would you define your artistic approach?
My tattoo style centers around small-scale, vibrant color work, often described by the media as “small fresh tattoos” with incredibly fine lines. I personally characterize my work as Girlish Tattoo art – detailed, delicate, and imbued with a feminine touch. These girlish tattoos are designed to be subtle yet captivating, perfect for those who appreciate understated elegance and intricate artistry in their body ink.

What specific techniques or special tricks do you employ to create such incredibly small yet richly detailed pieces?
For crafting these miniature artworks, I rely on single round line needles and 03 round line needles. This style demands meticulous attention and a great deal of patience. Rushing through the process can compromise the final quality of the tattoo. Each girlish tattoo requires a steady hand and a focused approach to ensure every fine line and delicate detail is perfectly rendered.

Which instruments and tools do you find most suitable for creating your signature pieces?
The “Legend Motor Tattoo Machine” is currently my go-to machine, and I find it exceptionally well-suited for my style, especially when paired with the right needles. For achieving the fine lines and delicate shading essential in my girlish tattoo designs, this machine offers the precision and control I need.
How did you discover Cam Supply, and what advantages do their products offer you as a tattoo artist?
I maintain very high standards when it comes to tattooing, both in terms of my artistry and the tools I use. I’ve long been aware of Cam Supply‘s reputation as a brand with over 20 years of history, recognized for its quality throughout the industry. Their aftercare cream, stencils, and machines are particularly invaluable for my girlish tattoo work. While I have experimented with other brands in the past, I consistently return to Cam Supply because of their reliability and the superior results they help me achieve.

Beyond delivering high-quality tattoos to my clients, it’s crucial to use top-tier products to ensure their skin’s health and safety. Currently, the majority of my tattoo supplies come from Cam Supply. Interestingly, the founder of Cam Supply is my godfather, and he is incredibly dedicated to the quality of every product he offers. He has been a significant role model for me in my career. I haven’t often spoken about my godfather in interviews because I was determined to build my reputation through my own hard work and talent. This led me to establish my tattoo business in Hong Kong by opening Mini Tattoo Studio, creating my own brand with the unwavering support of Cam Supply. Their global success is something I deeply admire and, as his daughter, I am incredibly proud of him!

Looking at your tattoos feels like flipping through an enchanting illustrated fairytale book. Where do you draw your inspiration from?
When I was starting as a tattoo apprentice, I was captivated by a watercolor flower tattoo I saw online. At the time, senior artists dismissed it, saying it was likely photoshopped and that real tattoos couldn’t achieve such lightness. However, the ethereal quality of that watercolor flower painting resonated deeply with me. Even now, I vividly recall the feeling it evoked. About six to nine months into my career, I began to gravitate towards my current style. From refining my technique to perfecting my photography and image presentation, I’ve continually researched and strived for improvement in creating my signature girlish tattoos.
For design inspiration, I often rely on my intuition and emotions. I also love collaborating with clients, incorporating their ideas and visions into unique and personalized girlish tattoo designs.
What kind of clientele do you typically attract, and what are some of the most frequent requests you receive?
I am fortunate to work with a clientele that is predominantly lovely and gentle. Often, my clients provide a general concept or direction and then entrust me with the creative freedom to design a piece that reflects my artistic style. Many are drawn to my girlish tattoo aesthetic and seek designs that are delicate, meaningful, and uniquely tailored to them.

Would you tell us more about your tattoo shop, MINI TATTOO?
I established my first shop and brand, “MINI TATTOO,” in 2018. Since then, my shop has expanded to offer a variety of tattoo-related products. Our company is deeply committed to quality and meticulous attention to detail in every aspect of our business. The shop’s design concept reflects my personal style, featuring a calming palette of wood tones and white, complemented by dried flower decorations. My aim was to create a relaxed and comfortable environment for everyone who visits. Consequently, I have high standards for the tattoo artists in my shop. Each artist is carefully selected and rigorously trained to ensure that every client receives exceptional service and peace of mind. We also regularly host tattoo artists from around the world, fostering an exchange of diverse tattoo art and techniques within our studio, further enriching the girlish tattoo styles and expertise we offer.

Could you share a bit more about yourself personally? What do you enjoy reading, what kind of music do you listen to, and what are your other interests?
In my spare time, I enjoy reading books focused on self-improvement, such as artist biographies, reference materials, self-help books, and even business management literature. My musical tastes are quite broad, and my playlists often change depending on my mood. Beyond reading and music, I have a passion for dancing and singing, and I’ve recently started practicing yoga as well.

How have you navigated the recent challenging times, and how are you doing now?
I experienced a period of depression due to external pressures. To cope, I turned to activities like hiking, reading, and writing as outlets for stress relief. I believe that challenging times can also be opportunities for growth and self-improvement, a chance to work even harder when others may be slowing down. This mindset has helped me to continue developing my artistry and business, even amidst difficulties.

What are your plans and aspirations for the future?
Looking ahead, I hope to dedicate time to training and mentoring new tattoo artists. My aspiration is to contribute to making Hong Kong a hub for diverse tattoo styles, gaining international recognition for the tattoo industry here. I am passionate about fostering talent and expanding the appreciation for different forms of tattoo art, including the girlish tattoo style that I specialize in.

Is there anything else you would like to share before we conclude?
I was among the first artists to introduce single round line needle techniques and the colored small tattoo style to Hong Kong. Over my 7-year career, I’ve been interviewed by various global media outlets, including TV stations, online platforms, newspapers, and magazines. I’ve also collaborated with globally recognized brands like THERMOS on tattoo graphic designs. Additionally, I’ve been honored to serve as a judge at tattoo conventions in Taiwan and across China. My guest work experiences have taken me to prestigious studios worldwide, including Bang Bang Tattoo in the U.S., lovehatecork by Ami James in the U.K., Top Tattoo in Taiwan, and numerous studios in France, South Korea, Argentina, and more.
